I thought at the time that the Dodgers won big and I still feel that way. Bay has been better than expected but what he does the next few weeks will be the key.

One could also say the same thing about Manny, but I don't think he'll pull a Nomar or Arod in the postseason. If his head is in the game he'll do his best to get the Dodgers past the Cubbies. It's the rest of the team that needs to step up around him. If I were a Cub pitcher I'd just give Manny first base just to be safe.

I think Bay will be fine but the Sox will be lacking some of their power to knock him in (Lowell and Drew) or pitchers to keep them in games (Beckett). What he does or doesn't do might not reflect why the Sox don't proceed to the next round.

It's worth bearing in mind that Bay is signed for another year, whilst Manny is an FA.

All things considered, I still have it down as win for the Sox and Dodgers, with the Pirates' end depending on how LaRoche etc turn out.

I've got it scored as a win for Dodgers + Pirates. Sox still depends, on how Moss turns out (I think he ends up being solid MLB starter, in which case Sox win). Bay (especially with him signed next year cheap)>Manny>Juan Pierre. For the Pirates, 4 minor leaguers is a better haul than anything else they could've gotten for Bay.

I think it sucks. Big shoutout to Bud and MLB for extending the trade deadline to pass it. :-t
