They should just put up a poll here at the Cafe for the official award. A nice discussion about VORP and win shares is what everyone needs.
Well to get back to the first point, Johan and Lincecum are basically neck and neck in VORP, and that's not including today's CG SHO. Lince does have a fair edge in WS (I'm honestly not sure why Johan ranks so low there, either).
The point is not "Who will win the MVP award". I think you will have a plethora of posters here who will argue vehemently that the voting process is quite flawed. There are very few times where the baseball writers select the "true" winner. For example, the CY selection seems to go to the pitcher who has garnered the most wins and K's.
I think the only one on the OP list that is a defensible selection would be CC. Almost threw a no-hitter and has absolutely dominated. Without CC, the Brewers would already be eliminated from contention. I think Tim should win it (or Johan) with CC in the discussion.

Tell me. Does a September win count more then a April one? Because if it does, every standings i have seen, is wrong then.
Do you want a ladder? You like cherry picking September abs.
Had Howard done anything in the beginning, Philly would have clinched long ago. Utley has contributed more then Howard to Phillys success.

Pujols had the best season easy. You can't debate that. I you want to debate him not for MVP, fine.
Runs Created
Pujols 141 (1st) Howard 108 (13th)
Did you know, Utley beats Howard in the following?

When will the lunacy stop?
It's becoming clear, from last year and this year, A Pujols, D Wright, and C Utley are fast becoming the most underrated players, and Howard is becoming the most overrated.

Can we add Pedroia for MVP to this list?
Even as a Boston fan, I have to agree with this. I've never thought of Pedroia as anything but a "good player". Definitely just doesn't feel like an MVP and his numbers aren't particularly impressive. Youk is definitely more valuable to the team, and I would argue he has had the better year anyway.
