Choke, Palahniuk, and Fight Club

All right dudes, you've heard of Fight Club, but probably not the guy who wrote it: Chuck Palahniuk. He also wrote Choke, a far better book imo. And Choke, the film, is being released this Friday.

And a quick synopsis of the plot-

The protagonist is a young mess of a man; for starters he's addicted to sex and regularly trolls Nymphomaniac Anonymous meetings for dates. He's also broke, so he often frequents nice restaurants and very publicly chokes on the food. Everyday life becomes even more challenging for our hero when the ben-wah balls break off.

Anyway, this is a great book and I'm stoked to see the movie. Anyone else?

I liked Choke a lot better than Fight Club too (I never really thought Fight Club the book or the movie were all that great...). Have you seen the previews? It's been years since I read the book so when I saw the preview for it at Dark Knight I didn't even realize it was Choke until they said so.

I actually saw my first preview just before I posted this thread. I had no idea the movie was being made at all! But there are signs that this could actually be a good film. The buzz on Rotten Tomatoes is quite high. And I have noticed that they are pre-screening the movie at multiple theaters here in Phoenix; something they definitely wouldn't do if they weren't pretty sure they had a nice product. Was the trailer good?

What other Palahniuk books have you read j? I've read most of them and Choke is much, much better than Fight Club. However, I think Survivor would have made a better movie than Choke...

Choke is the only other one I've read. I have the others as ebooks but I haven't got around to reading them. I totally agree about Fight Club. It's the premise of the book/movie that grew the cult following but after that the story is kind of lame. The movie is fun, but it's not the greatest, most important movie ever.

I'm kind of surprised, with how popular Fight Club is, that this movie isn't being plastered everywhere you look. Maybe it's because of the subject matter and it's being swept under the rug. Maybe, they don't feel like fans of Fight Club are going to be really excited about a heavy dialogue movie. But, I like Sam Rockwell a lot and the book is good... I'd be surprised if it really stinks.
