I wanted to pick Mark Prior #4, but now I'm unsure. The top 3 guys picked will probably be Arod, Pujols, Soriano in my league. So who should I pick? I've been thinking Vlad, or maybe Helton, although I still really want Prior. But this has been bothering him since September, will it affect him?
Honestly, if I was pickin in the four spot and those three guys were already taken, I would take someone you haven't mentioned yet.
I would take Carlos Beltran.
I am thinkin of even taking him even if I get the three spot. Then again, he probably more valuable in my league considering that we have three OF positions, and CF is pretty weak.
I thought Beltran...I don't know though. Doesn't help me as much in HR, BA and RBI as Helton/Vlad do. SB's are sweet, though, and Vlad won't have 40 in that lineup.
I'd take Beltran #4 overall as well. With Prior's injury, it makes him somewhat risky, which I don't want with a #4 pick. Besides, he's an SP, and I don't think I'd take him top 5 even if he were healthy. Beltran will probably be the second most valuable fantasy player based purely on stats, not accounting for position eligibility. If Vlad can stay healthy and get his SB total up, he could be #2, but I'd feel more safe with Beltran. His potential is too much to ignore, and even if he "only" repeats last year spread out over a full season, he'd be arguably be #4 overall anyways.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
I would draft Prior. he was hurt some last year but played through it and did great. he is the best. even if he gets hurt he will be one of the best. adn by selecting him in round 1 you can relax on pitchers for awhile and concentrate on hitters without watching all SP adn RP go.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. Rogers Hornsby
FYI- Go to ESPN and they will give you the avg. place that each player has been drafted by their leagues. I think the number of leagues that have drafted so far is over 2500! That should give you a good idea of who to take when
