So where are you all drafting Timmy in '09???

Will end up with the most K's in the NL with probably over 250.

2.43ERA/1.17WHIP

17 wins and only 3 losses on a crappy team.

Should win the NL Cy Young unless he gets robbed.

Only 24 years old. Just completed his first full season.

Where are you drafting him next season???

I'd probably take him after Santana and Peavy in a redraft (not sure) but in a keeper, he's the top pitcher.

dunno but if bochy keeps sending him out there to throw a lot of pitches, i don't want to take him until after 4th round.

call me a homer, but i think taking peavy over lincecum is kinda silly seeing as how peavy has had injury problems this year, has a worse ERA, worse FIP by almost a full run, worse K/9, worse HR/9, worse K/BB, a worse GB/FB and only a slightly better BB/9. He also has a BABIP 20 points lower than timmys, is also on a team with a bad offense and is 3 years older than tim.

comparing him to johan is not that much different either with only the BB/9 being that much better than tims

i understand that a lot of people are going to be worried about his workload this year but if anything i think that will cause him to be somewhat undervalued as he seriously seems to have a crazy arm and has never been hurt in his pitching career. *crosses fingers*

he'll definitely be my top ranked pitcher in pretty much any league.

/end homerism

yeah peavy fell a lot this year imo. he never pitches deep into games and with the pathetic SD offense, wins will be hard to come by. i'm not saying lince should be ahead of peavy, but we need to not put so much stock into his triple crown 08 season.

Lincecum is no worse than a 3rd rounder. I'd be inclined to rank him over Peavy as well and could go as high as Santana (talking about the 10-20 range).

As far as the fears of a huge workload taxing his arm next year, I'd be wary about it but so far his track record in reliability is very good. His throwing motion is a bit odd, but it's key as to keeping that shoulder from torquing more often than it could.

The biggest concern is the win total, I'd say, but that's probably being nitpicky. I personally don't consider win total as all that important in my pitcher valuations but he's really had to be lights-out to keep the Giants in the games to steal them. So, that brings up a question of if his ERA will be that sustainable. I say it could, as his peripherals are very good but wins can be quite fluky and it should be interesting if Tim can at least touch 15 wins again on a Giants team that's not slated to haul in any massive offensive upgrades in the immediate future.

anyone think he'll have pitched too much this year? you have to be weary of guys who pitch much more than they did in the past. i wouldn't take him in the 3rd myself. maybe 5th round.

I won't need to since I have him in both of my keeper leagues ;-D B-) .

That said, of the top pitchers heading into 09, I think he is probably the least likely to regress significantly. I could certainly see how some would rank Lince ahead of Peavy and Santana. I'm not quite sure where I'd fall at this point however.

I actually think he's probably the most likely to regress significantly. I'm just not buying what he's selling. He'll be borderline top 10 for me so I will guarantee I don't own him in a single league. He's going to have to do it for another year and stay healthy for me to believe it.
