$50 says that there is a very interesting back story here. Probably some sort of blow-out between Yost and management where they decided that they could not go another day with him. Sometimes these things work out if the environment has become truely poisonous. Remember Jimy Williams and the Astros a couple years ago?

I'm sure this isn't the first time a team with postseason aspirations has pulled a move like this... but I don't recall it. Anyone else think of a team tied for a postseason berth firing their manager with two weeks left? This is amazing.
You have to wonder what that backstory is. There HAS to be a reason for this timing.
Keep wreves in General Talk in 2011!

As a huge brewers fan, I could not be happier with the firing.. a long time coming. He has never done much to fire the club up, the club always has to fire them self up i.e. the dugout fight. Reading a bit into it, the brewers thought he'd be the next bobby cox. Bobby has some fire in him, Ned seems way to scared to call out his players. While I don't always agree that works, I wish ned would have blown some steam sometimes and gotten his players fired up. It was fun ned, Good luck Dale
