All right, I'll just confess that I'm speaking from experience here. I house-sitted a guy's house with my wife for almost 2 weeks a few years back. He owned a bowflex that was in the guest room, along with a few dumbbells. I've been lifting weight regularly since I was in junior high, I enjoy it. This wasn't even my house and I couldn't sit in that room long enough to work out with that machine. I would take the dumbbells outside, or to another room to work out there, while I watched TV.
In any case, that was my experience. I didn't care for the motion, because I didn't feel a real "pump" after I was done, like I do with bars and dumbbells. And I hated sitting in one place the whole time, staring at an empty wall while I was working out. The bowflex thing just would not work out for me.
Low risk investment? Even if it's free a bowflex will be a monstrous hassle moving into and out of a house, much less getting it home.
Just mho and my $.02
