Will the Price Be Right?

Postby DRAFTAHOLIC » Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:57 pm

Now that David Price is up will he outshine someone like Cole Hamels because Price is on a better team? Will David Price be able to adjust to the majors right away (first from the bullpen and later as a starter?)

Who will go down next year once Price claims a rotation spot?

:-/ Have you learned nothing from the NL Cy Young debate?

Price's WHIP in 4 AAA starts (18 IP) was 1.72, and his BB/9 was 4.5/9. Granted, it's a tiny sample size, but he's rocketed up the minors and it's be too early for him to dominate. It's unbelievably rare for a pitcher to come up and dominate. Give him a couple years, it's way too much to ask of a pitcher to dominate out of the gate. 80% chance he'll replace Edwin Jackson once he joins the rotation, 20% Sonnanstine.

i really wish that the the phrase "Price is Right" would stop being used. It's not funny or clever. It's all ready been run into the ground and the dude hasn't even pitched a game in the majors yet.

That comment was Price-less.

Maybe I should have asked, "will the Price be wrong"? It is still a legit question no matter how many times it has been run into the ground. Therefore legit answers are encouraged.

Price has the potential to be better than Cole Hamels. I think he can be ready on opening day to start.

Right away? He'll be a rookie in the rotation and will see his share of bumps along the way to being a very solid #1.

Jackson will likely be the one to get axed from the rotation.

It's even worse than that "We've Got Wood" phase that Cubs fans went to in '98. :-b
