Apologies to the passionate baseball fans here, but...for cryin out loud, how long 'till football? Pretty sure I never had to read an injury report about a paper cut during the NFL pre-season.
Tough as nails Closer Matt Mantei, who has been bothered by a split fingernail on his right pitching hand, threw for about 15 minutes on Thursday and reported no problems. He was bleeding fairly badly, however, on the knuckle of his right index finger.
"Paper cut," Mantei said. "I think I did it opening up some fan mail."

I think I speak for everybody when I say: He has fans?
Trade the bum, I already have Valverde on a few teams. He was second in the league in K/9 and had a great ERA and WHIP. If he gets a chance, watch out.
