Youtube Petty Annoyance............

I had a handful of youtube videos bookmarked, Frank Zappa music on SNL from 1976 and 1978 (the Peaches And Regalia one rocks the house). I have found that NBC and/or youtube have had them removed.
What the hell is the point of them doing this? They aren't going to make any money from selling them, and I can't find anywhere to buy these particular clips, so are they hogging this classic footage just because they can?

I don't see the point of removing stuff like this if they aren't going to immediately turn around and sell it.

Interesting. There's a guy I subscribe to that had all kinds of recent complete matches of Dragon Gate and Pro Wrestling NOAH (both from Japan) and for some reason, Youtube suspended him while there are a few out there that have them around. Who knew Youtube cared about Japanese copyrighted work.

Have you tried doing a hard refresh on that page?

I've had a video pulled up and refreshed it to get the "no longer available" message. Only after a hard refresh did the video reload. I think they have caching issues from time to time.

Nah, I deleted them from my youtube bookmarks so I can't.

By the way, I clicked on a Borat SNL clip just now, and that's no longer available either. NBC are evil b______s.

I'm not sure if this pertains to old SNL clips, but I think I heard/read somewhere that NBC is putting their stuff back in iTunes. They might have already, I don't follow the NBC happenings too closely. Maybe somebody can elaborate for me.

It does suck that I can't bring up my favorite SNL skits from time to time. That was the main reason I visited Youtube.

It's still stuff that they hold the rights to and could sell someday. There are apps to actually download YouTube video so that probably influences their decision to take it down.
