Phillips done for the year (probably)

Postby rocky123 » Wed Sep 10, 2008 8:17 am

This is getting ri-freakin-diculous!
Per Rotoworld:
Brandon Phillips suffered a broken right index finger in the same at-bat in which he delivered a go-ahead single Tuesday and is likely to miss the rest of the season.
Phillips apparently injured the finger on a bunt attempt before later driving in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning. A season-ending injury for Phillips isn't the worst thing for the Reds. He was hitting a pedestrian .261/.312/.442 in a pretty disappointing season, and now the team can take a look at Danny Richar and try to figure out if he should fit into their 2009 plans somehow. Richar could be worth adding in NL-only leagues.

I am in second fighting for first and have lost Kinsler, Quentin and Phillips in the last couple of weeks :-P

Well I am 1st trying to hang on and in another league I have Phillips, but the rosters lock for the playoffs, stupid rule, IMO. So I need a 2B for the 1st league, cats I need help in are HR and RBI any help?

Noooooooo; can anyone else confirm this? I'm having trouble finding another source on this. Not that Rotoworld is usually wrong.

I need a new 2B stat!

I hate the playoff roster lock too, but I was in a league with a guy who churned pitchers throughout the playoffs and won some matchups he shouldn't have. I have the league I'm running set to three roster moves per week, all year. Seemed to do the trick.

And if there is a God in heaven they will actually put him on the DL, not like the White Sox with Quentin.

this is not good. I'm in the middle of my semi-finals and I loose phillips.

The free agent market for 2B is really thin too. Looks like my best option right now is Asdrubal Cabrera, or Hairston JR. who just came off the D/L

anyone got a good sleeper 2B down the stretch who might be available in deep leagues?

the season can end soon enough...in the semis, and over the past month I've lost Carlos Lee, Longoria, Mora, Phillips, and Duchescher...ugh.

Im in the same situation as you. There is a chance he might not go on the dl becuase of the expanded rosters.
