Volquez helped a lot of teams get into early leads
I would call Edinson Volquez the "difference maker" WW pickup.... maybe Soto too?

I agree with Volquez, as someone who picked him up before the season even started.
I don't know any leagues where Soto wasn't drafted though.
Hinske was a monster off the WW for a few months. Alexei Ramirez for the White Sox has been solid. I don't know if he was a real difference maker but he looks like a keeper anyway.

Can't really forget about Carlos Quentin. I'm in 3 Twelve Team leagues and he was initially waiver wire fodder in each.

Quentin, McLouth, Cliff Lee, Volquez, Bruce, Longoria, Bradley, Duchscherer, Dempster, and perhaps Pedroia were all waiver wire pick-ups in shallow mixed leagues.
