Any techies out there?

I have an old Compaq Evo D500 that I want to use for Netflix instant watch and Hulu. Unfortunately, the video is really choppy. The processor is a 1.7 Pentium 4 and I have 1 GB of RAM. That should be fast enough for streaming video shouldn't it? Do I need to replace my video card (NVidia GeForce MX400 64mb)? I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a video card if it won't fix the problem.
