Who else eeked out first place?

Postby tinfoilxtouch » Mon Sep 01, 2008 1:47 am

Man, I spent the entire day on my blackberry refreshing stats and biting my fingernails.

I've been in first place since week 1. At one point I had a 18 game lead, but injuries and a surging second place team left me only 5.5 up going into this week. I faced the third place team and was tied for first (meaning second with the tie-break) at like 4pm today. Somehow, Hoffman got the win for the second place team's opponent. Snuck into the playoffs with a .5 game lead on second. :-o

Anyone else have the same type of thing today?

Similar situation here. I've been in first since I beat the then first place team 12-4 in Week 11. I had a 13.5 game lead with 4 weeks remaining, but it was down to .5 for the final week. I just happened to be playing the 2nd place team this final week and narrowly escaped 8-7 thanks in part to CC being a manimal. :-D

won by 1 gm, but i actually preferred #2 for playoff matchups but being the regular season #1 earned me an extra $50. ;-D

My situation is the exact opposite of your's.
I spent weeks 8-22 digging myself out of a 28-51-5 start to the season.
Before the day started I was one game out of a second seed, and a first round bye. (Which is just as good as first place to me)

I'm one of those bums that doesn't have stat tracker, so I'll have to wait a few more hours to see if I got it or not.

I went 45-3 the last three weeks to cover what I believe was a 15 GB deficit into first place.

The league I'm in uses 18 cats so it's kind of weird, but awesome nonetheless. ;-D

I didn't necessarily "eek" it out, but I certainly backed in, losing three of the last four weeks, but the second place team also struggled down the stretch and only picked up .5 on me.

I don't know what to do with my time this week, came in first, first, and second in my h2h leagues.

Regular season victories are only worth a pat on the back. So pat yourselves on the back. Me I finished 1 game out of 1st in second. Do I care, no. It would have been a bigger deal had a finished in third as 1st and 2nd still have a bye. A bye is a bye.
