The kid's having (another) amazing year. Leads MLB in hits and runs, leads the AL in batting average and among AL 2B he's 2nd in HR, 3rd in doubles, 1st in total bases, 3rd in OBP and 2nd in SLG......yet some people still consider him "a singles hitter with no power". People scoffed when he was named the ROY last year, they scoffed when he was named the starting 2B at the ASG (granted you can argue Kinsler) but the point is this guy can't be judged by his size as a "singles hitter with no power". Whether it's his size or simply because he's a Red Sox, he just doesn't get the respect he deserves IMO.
He's had an incredible season and I doubt anyone would deny that. I'm sure that soon, if not already, he'll be given the respect he deserves. The kid is just an all-around fantastic baseball player.
Definitely one of my favorite players right now. Plays the game the right way. I have no idea how he has such a huge swing for such a little guy and consistently makes contact. At every level there have been skeptics, but they kept saying he can hit, he can hit. No, he doesn't have the power of Utley. He doesn't have the speed of Roberts. All he has is a .320 BA, .916 Contact%, and what looks to be about as consistent a 20/20ish secondbaseman you can have. I'll take it.
I doubt he'd win it over the likes of Hamilton, Quentin, and Kinsler (not sure what his injury status is but it could hurt his chances), but you'd have to think he belongs in the discussion. Youk also probably deserves some love - he's another player that seems chronically underrated.

You're kidding, right? He might have a shot at the "Most Underrated Player" award (aka the MUP) but even then he'd probably lose out to Huff, DeRosa, and Mora for that one. MVP, no chance.
