i like the talking heads, but in small doses.. or in greatest hits form. sometimes their albums can be a bit too much for me..

Lots of good hip-hop dropping this Tuesday. All from NC too if that means anything. I've been spinning the leaks of J.Cole - Cole World: Sideline Story, Phonte - Charity Starts At Home, and 9th Wonder - The Wonder Years.

I'm not a huge rap fan but J. Cole might be my favorite ever just based on his mixtapes and his debut album (as of last week.) I'm much more drawn to good beats and music than lyrics and that was always my problem with the classic guys like Biggie and Tupac. And while some more recent stuff has music that appeals to me more, some of the rappers in the mainstream right now are really lame to listen to. But Cole is the best of both worlds. Unbelievable beats/production and one of the best lyrically I've ever heard.

Jay Electronica is dropping a lot of hints about his debut album tonight on Twitter and that might be the only guy who can drop something that I'd anticipate as much as I did J. Cole. For those that aren't aware of him:
