After hitting under .220 most of the season, you've managed to bring your average up to .229. Good job, but it's too little, too late. I still recognize that you have quite a bit of upside, but I just can't take the loud sucking sound your batting average is (was) making on my roster for this stretch drive. A couple of waiver wire pickups named Ty and Mike are filling in for you nicely, and I just can't spare your dead roster spot anymore.
Until next year, Rickie, where I'm sure for the 3rd year in a row, I'll draft you based on your potential instead of your past performance. Sigh.
Hahaha.... I do remember now. I've used that phrase before when referring to guys with low averages (see Swisher, Nick), but I hadn't tied the phrase back to Perot. I'm sure he's responsible for depositing it in my subconsciousness. It's a phrase that is very appropriate in certain cases.
Some of the young guys do seem to take forever to break out. I would probably end up drafting him again next year but I really don't know where to expect his ADP to be around. I think a lot of guys might have him on their sleeper list again next year so he might not go as low as you would expect for someone with his performance history.
I've had Weeks in a dynasty league since he came up so he's been killing me for a couple years now. I know as soon as I drop him he's gonna go Brandon Phillips on me though so I just keep plugging him in there...

Wow, it's very rare that my sentiments are stated so perfectly and at such a timely fashion. Weeks made his way off of two of my rosters last night, after having spent the last month sitting on the bench in favor of Jeff Kent. I do believe he will have the year we've been waiting for one day -- I just can't wait, especially down this home stretch, for him to figure it out.
It's a wonder how I am still in 1st place in my 20 teamer despite drafting Weeks with an 85th overall pick. I picked Konerko with my previous pick (76th overall).

Haha, me too. I also drafted Hafner, Saito, and Smoltz, all five before the 10th round.

Well, I have the same feeling, so maybe I'm helping you guys still holding on to him.
This could be a boost or a double-whammy for my team headed into the playoffs -- I'm in first (again, remarkable considering I've had Weeks all year), and after dropping Rickie two days ago, the second place guy claimed him on waivers today. We shall see.
