Kid throws too hard to play little league!?

There's 20 other kids on the field who want to have fun, too. Why can't he have fun against kids 1 year older than him, if he's able to play at that level?

I'm sure the 10 on his team are having plenty of fun.

So just because he's good, he has to go play with kids a year or two older than him rather than help his friends win a championship. Which do you think he would rather do? If you were a coach at the 11-12 year old level and the league bumped a 9 year old up to your team would you approve? Just because he throws hard, is he ready to hit and field his position at a higher level? Do you feel ok trotting him out there in front of bigger stronger kids and trusting he won't get hurt? Are the 20 other kids at that level ok with you requiring this?

So if a kid sucks, do you drop him an age bracket?

Can't believe so many people are so focused on "developing him as a player". He's freakin 9 years old. Can we just let him play the game and have fun?

Walking off the field and forfeiting is terrible. If I was the coach of that other team, I don't care what the league said, we would have played.

Agreed. All they are doing is teaching kids to quit. Not exactly the kind of lesson kids should be learning at that age.

I was going to write an article about this whole thing, but lack of time got the better of me, and everything above was things I was going to point out.

This got a chuckle out of me. I don't ever remember seeing a kid bumped down a level in that age range. I've seen them go from varsity to JV in junior high or high school, but that's the closest I've seen to that.
