Is Rauch now the closer in Ari?

Postby cookman » Thu Aug 21, 2008 7:22 am

So after Lyon did everything he could 2 nights ago to blow a 4 run lead, they throw Rauch out there for the save opp last night. With Lyon really sucking b@lls lately, is this switch permanent now? Saves are tight in my leaugue and Rauch would be plenty useful.

the leash is getting shorter by the second for lyon i think, Rauch didn't exactly get the save smoothly though, with arizona contending for the west they are going to pitch whoever can secure wins. As a Lyon owner I hope its him

Bob Melvin has been fairly staunch in his stance of Lyon closing. With Rauch on board, he has the luxury of sparing Lyon from pitching back-to-back outings. The other night, Lyon was horrible, expended a good deal of pitches, but I reckon Melvin used last night as a day for Lyon to clear his head.

I heard the same thing; nothing but a night off for Brandon.

Glad I'm not a D-Backs fan; that guy gives me the Byung-Yung Kim feeling when he's out there. Might be lights out, or he might give up the tying and/or winning runs, including at least one really demoralizing home run.

I liked Rauch's stuff last year, and this year he's been pretty consistent, too. I don't know if he'll be the closer in AZ until next year, though.
