I wanted to get a nice/cool deck or two of cards for poker night. KEM looks like the way to go.
It looks like I can buy brand new recently produced KEM cards, or I can buy vintage decks - even unopened ones. Since I'll actually be playing with them I'm wondering if I should just buy the newer ones in case the vintage ones have broken down chemically and are more apt to chip or whatever.
Anyone play with KEM? Know if they were new or vintage?

from my previous experiences, the best cards to get are from the casino. most casinos sell their "used" cards for a buck with a hole in them. next time you go, buy five packs and you'll be set for months.

Can't go wrong with the cards at the casino. I occasionally pick up a pack or two; they work well for me.
KEM is nice if you play a lot cause they can really take the wear and tear. I have recently started using 4 color decks for poker and I really like it.

i used 4 color online for awhile, but i got sick of it after playing at the casino and live more and more. look the "real lifeness" out of it.
KEM cards are very nice and hold up really well. I played with some brand new ones 3-4 years ago and if I were to go out and buy cards, that's what I'd pick up. They aren't cheap, but if you play a lot, they are worth it. If you don't play a lot, then I'd go with the casino cards or something cheaper.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
if you play a lot and want a really nice deck, you should just shell out for the KEMs. get a pack or two, you won't be disappointed, they're excellent.
Actually we have a tough time getting together - once every 2-3 months is how it works out. So I don't play very often, but I just felt like splurging on something cool for us to play with.
Thanks for the input! I think I'm going to get the 2 deck set of paisley.
Just wanted to say.... that I recommend you get the vintage Kem cards. My husband and I have used ... and I do mean used.... our set for decades now. They are still fantastic. Made in 1981, there has been no degrading of the material. They are washable and wear extremely well. I noticed your question in a search for our cards, because we finally managed to lose one of them and I was looking to replace it with the same style. Good Luck!:)
