is this a redraft league?
wakefield is a bomb waiting to happen. BUt he had pretty decent strikeout numbers last year for what he is. The other two are knwon quantities. But I think the risk of wakefield, which the diverse styles of the boston staff may help, is offset by the big numbers thome provides. i like the other two, but my gut? gow ith thome, if you aren't happy, you could still get a stud pitcher for him later. I think it can be harder to sell pitching in that sense.
Eventually it becomes amatter of there are only 30 starting first basemen in the league versus 150 pitchers. i know different roster sizes in fantasy mitigate this, but i think having a hitting advantage is ultimately superior vs the rest of the field. The majority of first baseman are adequate when compared vs the rest of the hitting field. but accumulating the margin of positional advantages vs your opponents is key. Hudson is a stud, but there are a lot of decent to very good options to choose from amongst the rest of your league in terms of pitching. There will only be five teams or so that will have the "stud" to deal in terms of first base. you may have more trading power when people feel pressed.
