wow... what a loss for that band. I'm not a DMB fan or anything, but I always dug his playing. That's just terrible.

Really can't believe this. This band has had such an influence on me as both a person and as a musician. Roi really seemed to be a great guy, and was obviously a very inspirational musician. I consider myself lucky to have been able to see him live 5 times over the past few years, but regret not seeing him even more than that. I saw the band on both June 13th and 14th of this year, which were two of the some of the last shows he ever played. Knowing that one of the original three founding members of my favorite band is gone at age 46 is really devastating.

The band is playing a show at the Staples Center right now. Word is that they are wearing sunglasses in honor or LeRoi and they were all crying heavily throughout at least the first few songs. This is almost definitely the end of the 2008 tour for them, and might even be the end of the band altogether, which is something I don't really want to think about right now.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP Roi. You will be missed. :,-( :,-(

That really is sad. I always thought that his playing added so much to that group while not being over the top. He will be missed, no doubt. I read that Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck's group has been filling in for him since his accident. I wonder if he will stay full time now? :-/

I'm in Charlottesville, considered to be the "hometown" of DMB, and there's been a pall hanging over this place ever since his accident. Only going to get worse I'd imagine :-/
