That Duke-for-Adrian-Gonzalez trade I pulled off a couple of weeks ago looks a little better now; even though Gonzalez has fallen on hard times, at least he's still playing.

According Yahoo his MRI showed no structural damage, just inflammation and he's supposed to get a shot and miss at least 1 start. Not sure if it was on Yahoo but I also read he'd probably be out until the first week of september, but not go on the DL. Well that would be close to 15 days so depending on how he responds to the shot I think he could still end up on the DL if they want to give him a few extra days off. That would also be more like missing 2 or 3 starts, so somewhat conflicting info out there at the moment, but at least it's not pointing to a season ending situation.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Justin Duchscherer (hip) is headed for the disabled list.

The newspaper previously reported that Duchscherer had a "good chance" of avoiding the DL, but he'll be placed on the shelf after receiving a cortisone shot in his injured hip. The A's are hoping to get him back in early September. Dan Meyer is expected to replace him in the rotation.

Said he might Saturday which is HUGE, someone just dropped him today b/c he couldn't afford to have an injured player to start the playoffs but i have a bye so i will be using a waiver on him.

The A's have decided to shut down Duchscherer (hip) for the remainder of the season, the team's web site reports.
Spin: Duchscherer is set to pay a visit to the same doctor that performed his hip surgery last season to map out a rehab process. You can safely drop Duchscherer in non-keeper leagues.
