How will he do this year. Is he worthy of the 5th spot in my rotation? Should I drop Shuey for him?

I drafted him quite late myself and was pretty much wondering the same thing. Is he due for a good season or what? I'm hoping so.
By the way, I absolutely hate your handle. The mental picture and psychosematic phantom pains it generates are most unpalatable.

I would pick him up. if he is healthy he can throw in the mid-90's and has a wonderful curve.

YES, even should he go to the pen, he's also a stud out of the pen.

Yeah, I would say Affeldt has huge upside with his stuff.
Plus, if he has trouble due to his finger, he'll likely return to the pen and be a nice closer, while pitching fewer innings.

Good to hear, maybe I won't finish dead last in pitching with my staff of:
Wood, Mulder, Padilla, Affeldt, H. Ramirez
Looper, Chacon, Graves, R. Wagner
I was seriously worried I had no chance to be competitive, but if Affeldt pans out, maybe I will.
