Has anyone heard anything about this guy? Placed on secret bereavement a week ago and I haven't seen news on him anywhere. Apparently he needs to be reinstated by Saturday?

bereavement DLs are 3 to 7 days .. today was the day they had to activate him or extend the DL..weirdness that no word has filtered out

Aug 13 Reds.MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto is expected to return Saturday, Aug. 16, from bereavement leave. The reason for his absence was kept private at Votto's request.

Per Rotoworld:

Reds reinstated INF Joey Votto from the bereavement list.

He was reinstated because he had reached the maximum allotment of seven days, and he's expected to get a "couple more days" to get back into a "baseball mindset" before returning to the starting lineup. He should be ready to pinch-hit over the weekend.

I think it's wierd that Yahoo was posting up it was due to his father's passing, and then posting up that he requested the reason NOT be shared, continually during his time off. Saw each news item posted a few times.
