Sprained knee. Balfour seems to be the logical choice for save opportunities if Percival is to miss any time, and he's been dominant so far this year, with 55 K's in 27 IP. It doesn't sound great for him in this article, has anyone else heard anything useful?

The Tampa Tribune reports it "appears likely" Troy Percival will be placed on the disabled list Friday.
Percival injured himself trying to tag Mark Ellis out on a sacrifice bunt. "I never felt anything pop or anything and I took two steps back towards the mound and I was like, 'What the heck just happened?'" said Percival. He'll be examined today, but the Rays probably aren't going to give him a few days to see how he feels.

Apparently up in the air. IMO Balfour gets the role.

Is Percival likely to come back this year? If so, will they insert him back into the closer role? Balfour has some pretty good numbers and could take the job and run with it.

2-4 weeks for Percy, but that knee is a dangerous thing. IMO, if Percy comes back the job is his no matter what. He is Joes guy and Joe promised him that role if he came to Tampa. Balfour has been better than Percy the last month and Maddon still goes to Percy. In the meantime, they will go with a CBC IMO. Maddon likes veterans and will give them a chance (Wheeler). The last time Percy was out Wheeler got 2 opps, Balfour got 3, and Miller and Howell each got one. Maddon will go with the best match ups.
