Both players will stick with the team for the rest of the season. The Tigers were the team that put in a claim on Ibanez, and Minnesota made a claim on Washburn - likely to block the White Sox, who were thought to be interested.
Its kind of funny how the team that needs pitching puts a claim in on yet another hitter and the team that has great pitching and a set rotation puts a claim in on a pitcher.
It's believed that the Twins put claims in on both players, but the Tigers have the worse record and higher waiver priority.
There has been some speculation that the Twins wanted Washburn (hard to believe for me) to replace one of their young starters and move that young starter to a 7th/8th inning role. The Twins do have some problems in their bullpen, but wanting Washburn is tough to believe.
