Yeah, Britton predates Effa Manley - 1911. She may not be the answer to the question as phrased either, since there were hundreds, maybe thousands, of professional baseball teams operating between 1870 and 1910 and there's a distinct possibility that one or dozens of them were owned by women.
But Britton is the best documented answer, at any rate.
