I think the article raises a very valid point about Ellsbury's hitting approach. He often looks overmatched at the plate and he tends to swing at just about everything. I think if he can refine his hitting and continue to develop - let's not forget that this is a young kid here who was put on the fast track to the Show - he will have more value in the longterm and maybe be more of an Ichiro-like player instead of Pierre. I don't think he's ever going to be a .330-.340 hitter but if he can flirt with .300-.310 regularly, show better plate discipline and raise hell on the basepaths while playing gold glove caliber defense in CF, I'll take it.
Of course, in this situation, I think he is one of those players who will be more valuable in real life than he will in fantasy circles...
