On the bright side, Longoria hasn't been ruled out for the season yet, so at least there's that shred of hope. But it's not much as fractures usually take 6-8 weeks to heal.
Rotoworld describes it as "a fracture that will sideline the AL's leading Rookie of the Year candidate for at least two weeks" -- Do they just mean that b/c he's on the 15-day dl, it's at least 2 weeks, or is there any hope that he'll actually get back this year? I've just never heard of a wrist fracture healing that fast.
It is interesting. They x-rayed it the day after he got hit and they said there was absolutely no break. Now they say it is a wrist fracture. Strange. I have heard that they think he may be out for longer than the 15 days
Well, there's some chance that the X-rays don't pick up on a fracture that seems relatively minute.
Yea, they could have re xrayed after he said it still hurt
Edit: And one more, this one actually from the team:
Executive VP Andrew Freidman said they expect Longoria to be out about three weeks, give or take a few days. The fracture is nondisplaced, which is a good thing, he said.
No way he's going to be of any value for this fantasy season. Four weeks minimum to heal, more like six-eight. From today, six weeks is the 22nd of September. So he comes back after not swinging the bat for the last 10 days of the season. You expecting 3Hr 10rbi and a .330 ba in those 10 days? I'm pulling for the Rays too. Love to see them in the playoffs and keep the nation crying over spilled Manny.

Hand injuries usually have a way of draining the power out of a guy for the short term. This will be a true test for the Rays. As far as next season, I think he will have enough time in the off season to get it strong and be fine. The only problem for next season would be if they decided in the offseason he needed surgery. Sometimes you see guys come back, but then have offseason surgery, that will zap the power for a while.
