Aug 7 The Los Angeles Times reports Los Angeles Dodgers SS Rafael Furcal and his agent have expressed a desire to stay with the club following the 2008 season. KFFL
Aug 2 Furcal (back surgery) will attempt to return when rosters expand on September 1, the Dodgers' official site reports.
Recommendation: There is certainly no guarantee Furcal will be back at all this year, but his return would be a huge boost to the Dodgers' chances at winning a postseason series for the first time since 1988. Furcal's return could also result in more playing time for Andre Ethier as manager Joe Torre would have that speed he likes at the top of the order with Furcal.
I had an open DL spot, so I stashed him hoping that he might contribute... we'll see though.
From Yahoo:
Wed, Aug 13 Ken Gurnick, of MLB.com, reports Los Angeles Dodgers SS Rafael Furcal (back) has started baseball related activities, according to manager Joe Torre.
Even if he came back as early as september 1st, he probably wouldn't be productive right away. Best case you might get 2 or 3 weeks of decent or better production out of him IMO.
If he comes back healthy, he gives the Dodgers another very important bat as well as great speed in their lineup. With the division up for grabs, you gotta think they want him back, but only if he's 100% ready to go...gotta watch and see how this unfolds for now unfortunately...

Those two or three weeks during the H2H playoffs. If you have a spot in the playoffs sown up, it might be worth stashing him away. Someone in my league fighting for a spot in the playoffs just dropped him. I have an extra DL spot, I think I'll stash him away if I can get him.
Aug 23 Furcal hopes to return to the Dodgers' lineup when rosters expand Sept. 1, if not sooner, according to the team's official Web site.
Advice: Furcal had surgery in July to relieve pressure on a disk in his lower back, and has been undergoing physical therapy. "I don't want to come back and feel anything after I play awhile," Furcal told the team site at the start of August. "I want to get everything to feel all right, 100 percent. Back surgery is a bad thing and I don't want to rush." Furcal was hitting .366 (46-for-134) with five homers and 16 RBIs in 32 games before he was injured in early May.
