So even with a HR tonight, I was listening to ESPN radio and Dibble said he saw Braun "cringe" on one of his swings. Are we benching him for a healthier alternative next week, or going with the stud and gamble a bit?

Well, given the nature of the injury, the back tightness could linger or fire up later. From what I noticed, Braun's swings look fluid and natural. I'd gamble on him in a weekly league still.
Ryan Braun left Monday night's game in the sixth inning with an undisclosed injury.
Braun had returned on Sunday after missing seven games with lower back tightness. He appeared to be in pain after swinging and missing in his sixth-inning at-bat, and left the game after walking gingerly back to the dugout. Gabe Kapler replaced him in left. Aug. 18 - 10:57 pm et
This is so very really totally completely and utterly not good.
Seems like Yost and crew weren't cautious enough. Braun was day-to-day and he looked quite good in his swings but like I said a back ailment like this is so tricky to shake off. Might be a DL stint, I'm afraid.
Great! I pull off the trade of the year, and I don't get squat from Braun!! Now he's probably gonna hit the DL, and my season is TOAST!! I don't see them rushing him back this time.
The silver lining is that the back tightness is just that, tightness, and not a strain. Supposedly, Braun won't miss extensive time on the DL. Cross your fingers, boys.
Ryan Braun is not in Tuesday night's lineup after aggravating his rib injury on Monday night. The good news is that Braun doesn't think he's going to miss significant time. "I think I could play today," said Braun. "It's just one of those nagging injuries that's probably not going to go away completely while I'm playing. I'll have to deal with it." They just mentioned on the Braves telecast that Braun has been placed on the DL. I haven't seen anything on the internet yet, but I thought I would pass that along.
EDIT: After searching some Brewer message boards and other sites, I believe that the Braves announcers had some bad info. Sorry if I alarmed anyone.
