i think that he's going to be mediocre just like he has been all year. anyone who drafted him in the 1st or 2nd round had to be ready for the dropoff. there was just no way he was going to produce those numbers again.

Well he hasn't been right, healthy wise, all year has he?

Man, really weird year for Rollins. I decided to look at his peripherals and I found some weird things.

This year, he's posting the lowest K rate of his career. He's also posting his highest BB rate.

He has a 22.4 LD % but a .273 BABIP (extremely low); last year he hit a lot more fly balls than he's been hitting this year; that's part of the reason his power has gone down. But his OBP "should" be much higher than it actually is (should be above .350)...

Every time I look at this topic I think of G 'n R's Civil War and Young Guns.

Sorry, carry on...

Thing is Howard K's a lot, but he almost has to. His AVG with RISP is quality, and they aren't paying him to knock basehits. Rollins not being good has been a lot with it, and it has always been boom or bust. I think they will come back around a bit. They really should have made a move for an ibanez type though IMO.

i think werth is perfectly fine as a full time hitter in RH honestly. sure he doesnt hit lefties as good as righties, but he plays great defense, has a good arm, and can make plays on the bases. i dont think they needed to waste any more million paying 5-10mil for an ordinary OF type. they need to get themselves a real 3b is what they need to do.

goes without saying. Not gonna happen though. It's so frustrating. They could have done that and tried for aramis among other players. Feliz is ok, it just feels like they are constantly going the budget route. I mean you can rebuild or whatever (i have heard some nonsense like that on philaphans and other forums), but are you really going to fall into 4 key guys like howard, utley, rollins, and hamels? Seems stupid to waste this.

They need to get a real SS first, or rather they need to remove the cancer they have there

yea, the cancer that was the MVP last year and was hurt early this year? That cancer? The one that led them to the playoffs in a year that saw injuries from Howard and Utley? He has shown a tad bit of primodonna stuff this year, stuff that needs to be clamped down on. But a cancer? That's just dumb.
