Weiters is in a class all by himself imo. Lawrie will probably wind up at 3B.

No one comes close to Weiters. He is the best catcher prospect in a very long time.

8-o :-? You do realize Martin has hit for slightly more power than Mauer right?

Best comp for Wieters would likely be a Victor Martinez / Posada type hitter. I'm not that big a fan of Posey, I guess if he reached his potential he "might" be close to Martin. I just don't think his power will translate well to the majors/wood bats, and if it doesn't he is mainly a good avg guy w/ nice speed.

Weiters is in a league by himself.

One guy to keep an eye on is Jesus Montero. He is still very young and in single A but he has shown some nice numbers. BA over .315, 13 HR, 69 RBI's and 67 runs. His K/BB ratio, 69/31, isn't great but it isn't scary either. But at age 19 he still has 3 yrs in minors before he gets a call-up.

I do realize that Martin has hit for more power than Mauer. What I was meaning was by that comment was...

Do you think Weiters will be like a "Mauer type of hitter" but with HR power?!?

I don't really consider his stats that great, especially power wise - .281 AVG, 3 HR, 19 RBI, .736 OPS.

Ah I see, so your asking if he will the best catcher in history? :-b

Mauer's hitting/plate discipline to me is in another league. Weiters is doing great but Mauer hit roughly combined .340 at High A/AA at the age of 20. I'd stick to my comps like V-Mart with much better defense.
