What's all this about? I was all excited to hear this "legendary" rap song. It sucked big time! To be fair, I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics (and if that's what makes it so great, then oops... ), but I was bored out of my skull.
You want some good rap, go with Method Man's "Release Yo Delf" or 2Pac's "Holla At Me." Those 2 always get me juiced up...
They serve a different purpose... NY State of Mind isn't a hype track. The instrumental is absolutely fantastic for the song. It sets the mood perfectly. Also one of the most lyrical songs I've ever heard.
LOL you don't have to teach me about either Mef or Pac, man. I've heard everything they put out.

Great song. J Ivy sounds way too much like Saul Williams on the song though.
