"First off, don't buy the "diagnosis" the Yankees offered Wednesday night. "Rotator cuff tendinitis" isn't an actual injury -- it's the intentionally vague terminology the Yankees release to the media when they don't want to tell us (and, by extension, you) the truth.
They said Jorge Posada had rotator cuff tendinitis when what he had was a labrum tear that required surgery. So don't sit here this morning thinking you know what's wrong with Chamberlain, because you don't. I don't. We don't because the Yankees don't want us to, and so far we haven't been able to find out through back channels (still working on that, I promise).
The point, though, is that Chamberlain is hurt -- hurt enough to be on the disabled list and miss at least two of the roughly 10 starts that were left in his season. And if that's the case, they really should just shut him down and have him miss all 10."
