So Guillen will loose his eligibility this season making ss pretty thin. Are there are prospects on the hoirzon who can help out next season?

depending on what the sox do, lowrie. he will likely produce similar to pedroia. not great, but wont kill you

What about Alcides Escobar, the Brewer SS? Is he essentially blocked by JJ Hardy?

I think you could see Gordon Beckham (polished collage bat), Alcides Escobar, Elvis Andrus, and possibly Chris Nelson (if traded) in '09.

I don't like Moustakas (even though I own him) for next year, mainly cause Aviles has really excelled at that spot and should open next season there. Moustakas may get moved to 2B or 3B (if Gordon goes back to 1B) or get stranded in the minors.

I think Lowrie is going to be good, but the way the Sox have been limiting his ABs by platooning him with Cora worries me. Hes probably only gonna have 300 combined ABs this year, which really limits his growth.

Escobar is intriguing, I know the Orioles are hard after him (rumored to have offered Sherrill), in which case he comes up this year, but if he sticks in Mil then Im not sure I want to invest in him right now.

I think Mike Aviles could break out. If he falters I wouldn't be surprised if Moustakas got called up. It's also just a matter of time before Brandon Wood makes the team and sticks.
