Thoughts on this deal WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Tue Jul 29, 2008 5:38 pm

Commish is giving me heck about this deal I made with a buddy of mine. Basically accusing me of cheating. Yes we are buddies but I am with half of the guys in this league. If we can't make deals with people we know I guess it eliminates a lot of trading options!

Anyways....back to the deal.

8 team Keeper League

I sent: Bedard,Tulo,Abreu
I receive: Rollins,Zambrano

I originally had offered Volquez in Bedards place but he though Bedard was the better keeper option so he asked for him instead.

He's also near the basement in our league so can afford to wait for both Bedard and Tulo to get through their struggles and possibly keep them for next year. He also needed another OF to start in place of Hermida. I am banking on Rollins turning it around so I bought him low. I also need another SP with Bedard on the DL.

I'm in 2nd, 1 game back. The commish is in 3rd chasing me. I think his bitching has a lot more to do with this than the actual trade I just made. Of course I like the deal I made or else I wouldnt have made it but its far from vetoable IMO as both of us have legitimate reasons for making it.

Thoughts????

Tulo's not a reall offensive threat, Bedard's inconsistent and hurt, and Abreu's too old to be a keeper. I think you got 2 top keepers for 1 middle guy, so it's kinda bogus.

You won the trade by a wide stretch, but it sounds like the other guy wanted to do the deal.

In an 8 team league, it's a little hard to evaluate players. The top studs are that much more valuable because there are always solid players available to fill out a roster. The only way you win is by hording top 30 players. Since he got no top 30s in return for giving up at least one and arguably two, he lost the deal for sure.

But that doesn't mean it should be reversed. Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy.
