From Rotowire: Morrow could go to Triple-A Tacoma in August to work as a starting pitching, the Seattle Times reports.
Recommendation: The Mariners would stretch him out for two or three weeks, bringing him back up in September to start. Manager Jim Riggleman said he didn't think it would take long to build Morrow's pitch count, but he said it was still "50/50" in the organization whether to make Morrow a starter or leave him in the bullpen. As long as the Mariners are cleaning house these days, they should sweep out the "50" who'd rather keep Morrow's lively arm in the bullpen. With J.J. Putz on his way to reclaiming the closer job, it would be a grand waste to use Morrow as a set-up man in a season that's been over for months.
We all pretty much expected this, but I find the part about bringing him back in September particularly interesting. Anybody buying Morrow being a fantasy contributor coming down the stretch?
