Frank Thomas
Mike Sweeney
Teixeira
David Ortiz
only rank them in terms of their performance this year...I am looking to get one of these guys as a backup 1B or utility guy (pretend Tex doesn't count at 3B for this ranking...thanks).

1. Sweeney - easily the highest average in the bunch with comparable power numbers.
2. Ortiz - monster 2nd half last year means lots of upside.
3. Teixeira - also tons of upside, I've got him ranked very close to Ortiz.
4. Thomas - he's old, moody, inconsistent, and doesn't get along with his new manager. I can't see him hitting 40 HRs again.

DJ-its only a terrible list because I did not agree with you!
I can only imagine that you disagree with it because I put Thomas 1st. Thomas has not shown any decline in his power so he will continue to hit HRs and get RBIs.He takes a lot of walks and should score a fair amount of runs. His drawback is his low avg as he tries to hit a homerun with every at bat..I dont see any sign that this will change but I will take his HRs,RBIs,and runs scored any day.
