I don't know a lot about that campaign, but what I do know seems so absurd that it looks like the Dems just threw the race. It's either that or they're so bumblinlgy inept they make the Keystone Kops seem graceful. Either or.

One article I read on it said it was, indeed, ineptitude, but it was made significantly worse by complacency.

It was a lot of everything. Coakley's lackadasical campaign, which turned into Coakley's negative campaign on Brown (which turned voters off on her), her being so out of touch as seen quoted above, plus a lot of people are fed up with Obama's tax and spend reign that hasn't produced more jobs, the transparency he promised that doesn't exist, why would people want a Dem majority in the Senate? . And the fact that 61% of the people don't want health care, the fact Brown promised to vote against didn't hurt him, and that Coakley capmaigned for it didn't help her.

Anywho, I promise to post some funny pics later tonight to get this thread back where it belongs ;-D

Not to defend Coakely, who by all accounts was a sub-par candidate who ran a horrible campaign, but the the "Yankees fan" comment was a joke that was taken completely out of context and used against her. Curt Schilling had already endorsed Brown and had been sliming Coakely. She was asked what she thought about that and dismissively joked "He's a Yankees fan" (or whatever the exact quote was). That was used against her to make it seem as if she was completely clueless and had no idea who Curt Schilling is, when she actually showed just the opposite. For the average Boston sports fan is there a worse insult than being called a Yankees fan? She was dissing Schilling in response to his diss of her (which itself is a big risk to take in MA, as he will be forever loved by sports fans for the Kool-Aid sock game, regardless of how much of a fool he proves himself to be or how often). It's not as if that was the first time a comment was taken out of context and used against someone during a campaign, though, just the most recent.

Yeah too many threads are getting "gheyed up" lately, they should keep it all in one spot. ;-7
