Matsui's final try: Hideki Matsui will rest his sore left knee for the next five days and resume working out on Monday.
Matsui will need surgery on the knee but he hopes to delay the procedure until after the season, which is what he did with his right knee last year.
Matsui, who has been out since June 23, has had his knee drained four times since the start of the season. The joint has not been able to withstand more than a few days of exertion.

I just had a vision of the Japanese Kirk Gibson in the playoffs
As a Yankee fan I am torn on this trade. I love Marte and we needed him more than anything else, but I am not confident in Nady's abilities, he is horrendous in the field, and tabata was a very highly rated prospect who is only 19 (although Action Jackson is the better OF in our system). It's a toss up depending on how Tabata pans out but it si a trade that seemed necessary for the time being for the playoff push.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
I would have just signed Bonds for nothing instead of trading prospects for a guy that's sure to regress the rest of this season, but I'm no GM. The Yankees will certainly be a better team either way, though.

Bonds? The dude is like 50 yrs old and can barely play on the field.... so he's a DH . The Yankees currently have enough guys occupying the DH spot...
