Josh Fields to be called up

Postby Maris09 » Fri Jul 25, 2008 4:18 pm

Rotoworld:
Joe Crede-3B-White Sox Jul. 25 - 4:01 pm et

The White Sox will call up Josh Fields and place Joe Crede on the DL prior to Friday's game.

Crede is going on the DL for the first time this year because of his chronic back issues. If only he could have made it through the season without anything flaring up, he likely would have been in line for a much better deal as a free agent this winter. He'll still have a nice salary next year, but a team would have to be pretty foolish to give him a four-year deal. Even three would be pushing it.

Yeah, good source of power. A good bet to hit 10-15 HR in the 2nd half.

So Crede is out for the year or what?
It would suck to add Fields and all of a sudden have to drop him because Crede is still able to play

I agreed with this and expected him to be the everyday 3B until I noticed he's sitting today (Sunday) against Zach Miner. Uribe is 3B, Ramirez is in 2B. Does this imply that Fields is really only bench material? Has he already pissed mad Ozzie off?

I snagged him to cover for Chipper's latest injury but if he's going to sit after only two games (where he went 1 for 7), I'd better look for another Chipper sub.

If the Sox weren't fighting for an AL Central title, I'm sure Fields would be in there.
Right now, Uribe is the better fielder and both will give fairly similar plate production. (low average, high power)
