Cedric Hunter Pls help

Postby powenM » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:02 am

Ok Id like to get some imput on cedric hunter. Projections? And when should we expect his arrival.

The reason I ask is that i was looking to add a closer to my my dynasty league roster and inquired about STorres(Im currently in 2nd place in a 20team Dynasty). The other owner wanted JWalden I said it was too much to pay. So he came back with CHunter and torres for my Walden.

What do u think?

Reason: title wrong - said Cedric *Benson*
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

I've read some think he'll be up in 2010, but I'm thinking 2011. It's difficult to project his stats considering he's only 20 years old and has usually played with older guys in the minors. I liken him to Victorino right now, but he could develop some more power and would thus have even better projections.

I have seen comps of Torii Hunter, Kenny Lofton, Sean Green, and the above mentioned Victorino.

I don't think he will stick at center and will move to a corner outfield position.

He had a greater than 50% caught stealing rate last year, which leaves me doubting his base running potential just a little bit.

I like him, and I think he will be a solid OF, not a superstar, but might make 1 or 2 allstar teams in his career.

He is no Kenny Lofton or anything resembling a speedy outfielder. He has slightly above average speed which should net him 10-15 steals in his prime and should hit for a decent average(think .280ish)with average to below average power(15-20 in a neutral park...not Petco)for a corner outfielder. I do not believe he has the speed to stay in CF(especially in Petco)and lacks the power to be an impact bat in LF or RF. For lack of a better term he is a bit of a tweener in the outfield....not enough speed for center and lacking the bat in RF/LF. He is a mediocre prospect that should become a big league regular with little upside. Hope this helps.

He won't be a huge fantasy force. Hunter can hit, but he hasn't displayed much for power or speed. He should be a solid major leaguer, but not for fantasy lines.
Jody, Jody Davis. Hits 'em high and far. Jody, Jody Davis. He's a superstar. Holy Cow!!!! http://www.stinkytee.com
