Chris Carpenter back before long?

The latest news today:

News: Though Carpenter (elbow) believes that he probably needs at least a couple more rehab starts, he raised the possibility that if all goes well Friday he may be back in the majors next week, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. [-]
Impact: This certainly qualifies as good news to owners holding onto Carpenter all season, but the news should be tempered a bit. He struggled a bit in his last start, and no one expects him to be the Carpenter of 2004-06 right off the bat.

Is time to grab him from the waver wire?

Starting Wednesday at Atlanta
From Rotoworld:
Jul. 26 - 5:49 pm et
Manager Tony La Russa announced before Saturday's game that Chris Carpenter will start against the Braves on Wednesday.

It will be Carpenter's first start in almost 16 months. He has been out since Opening Day 2007 after experiencing elbow discomfort and eventually undergoing Tommy John surgery. Carp has made two solid rehab appearances, but if anything goes wrong, the Cardinals will easily be ridiculed for rushing him back. He will take Mitchell Boggs' spot in the starting rotation.
