Yovani Gallardo?

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo, who had successful knee surgery in mid-May to repair a torn ACL, says he hopes to be back in September. "I would like to pitch before the end of the year," Gallardo said. "That's what I'm shooting for. If I'm not ready, it's not worth taking the risk. But everything's going good. I'm going to do everything possible to stay on the right track. I'm not counting on it but hopefully I can come back (in September). That's my goal."

Is it worth taking a flier on him? I got a empty roster spot looking for the next big thing. I'm in a deep 16 teamer so there is nobody on thw WW. Thanks.

if it is a keeper league i say yes without a question. but if it is a redraft league there is no point. a september return, even he said, is a big stretch and since he is so young the brewers won't have him go out there and possibly reinjure it. he's a pitcher to watch out for next year but certainly not this year at all.

Anyone know how his rehab start went on Friday? He was scheduled to throw about 75 pitches and could possbly be used out of the bullpen this coming week or as a replacement for Sheets.

Nevermind, just found the answer to my own question. It was a simulated game and he threw 5 innings. Being re-evaluated on Monday.

Better do a lot of hoping and quick. Yahoo! is reporting that he is the probable starter for Game 1.
