Thames is a career .230 hitter against RHP so this is hardly surprising. He'll play against Danks Saturday but with Maggs, Granderson and Sheffield all healthy Thames will remain in a platoon with Joyce.

Hardly surprising? He's hitting .272 with 10 bombs against righties this season. Is it really that hard to conceive that he's coming around as a hitter? Heck, he's hitting almost 100 points higher at home, so it doesn't really make a lot of sense to continually sit him unless teams are inquiring about Joyce.

He's a 31 year old journeyman with decent pop but nothing else.

I love how people sell Thames short. Give him full playing time, and he's hitting 35 every year. Look at his last two seasons of work. 26 in 110 games, 18 in 86. Yes, he's streaky and he won't hit .280 or even .270, but give me a break. His walk rate has improved a bit, and his K rate decreased. "Decent pop"? That's putting it very, very mildly.

Yeah, seriously NZ. If you had Thames on your fantasy squad you'd certainly have more respect for him. It seems like he hits a bomb every other at bat. I'm pissed he's not getting more playing time because it makes it VERY difficult to set my lineup.

Well, I'm a fan of Thames and despite NZ selling this guy much too short in his statement, Thames is roster worthy in most roto leagues for that 'decent pop' alone. This quoted sentence makes NZ sound like he only plays in light, 8-team MLB universe leagues. Thames is the definition of waiver wire value, man.
In Thames' career no one has given him true full time status, so I imagine it'd be more of a surprise if he started every game than it'd be if he was sat for Joyce, Sheffield, AAA rookie, etc. Unless every spare outfielder with promise is traded or injured, I imagine Thames will remain a 5 out of 7 game starter for the rest of the season.

I've had him on 2 of my 3 teams teams at times this season but I will never keep a permanent roster spot for a platoon RH hitter who has never hit for average.
