The short answer is nobody knows. I've been on the ESPN chats, read the ESPN articles, seen what Rotoworld says, etc, and the conclusion is nobody knows. There is specualtion that Embree might be dealt anyway, and there is no point in using him considering they are playing for nothing. The most common conclusion I read is that Casilla or Ziegler would get first crack out. Erick Karabell seems to think Ziegler should get hte shot so they can find out what they have.

Here's a thought I've heard no one, even the sports media mention. Maybe they go to a committee. If they want to find out what they have for next year maybe they give 2 or 3 guys shots at closing to tsee who they prefer going forward. Normally I wouldn't think that would happen, but Billy Bean is not a conventional GM, rebuilding while in a pennant race. He might give the manager orders to do this. Just a thought.
If Casilla and Devine hadn't both got hurt I would have said it would have been one of them. As it stands now, Casilla is back and hasn't been very good and Devine is out for a bit longer and who knows how effective he will be upon his return. Looking ahead to next year, assuming Street is dealt, I still think it will be one of the two of them with a slight advantage going to Devine. I know that occasionally a submariner like Ziegler proves to be a succesful closer (Quisenberry, Tekulve) but more often the hitters figure them out the second or third time around. I don't expect Ziegler's magical run to last much longer.

I'd guess Embree more so because he has the experience of having closed for them some last year. He's certainly not the most exciting, or even skilled option, but I think he might get the first shot.
