Hanrahan officially named closer for Nats

Postby harold_bush » Wed Jul 23, 2008 11:14 am

Yeah, I know, not too exciting, but I just grabbed him. Good strikeout guy, and he has been pretty good since moving to the pen. He also as SP eligibility in Yahoo leagues, so depending on league set up, could be a nice advantage. Now, if they could just win some games!
___________
Manager Manny Acta announced Tuesday that Joel Hanrahan will take over as the Nationals' closer following the trade of Jon Rauch.

"He's been our most dominant guy out of our bullpen and has the best numbers, so he'll get the crack at it," Acta said. Hanrahan has shaky control, but has a 3.94 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings in his first season as a full-time reliever. He's worth grabbing in both NL-only and mixed leagues.
