Sherrill to get dealt?

Postby rocky123 » Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:24 pm

I included Sherrill in a recent deal to get Wagner for this very reason. He may get dealt to St. Louis as a setup man

Per RW:
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals are interested in George Sherrill.
The newspaper adds that Eddie Guardado is another possibility as the Cardinals look to acquire a left-handed setup man. Sherrill has 29 saves for the Orioles after coming over in the Erik Bedard deal.
Finally The Rock has come back....to New York City!!

if he's dealt to St. Louis it won't be as a set up man.

Our current closer situation is horrid...in that we don't have one.

I was mentioning the same thing to my buddy at work. St Louis closers are in a shambles I don't know why they would trade for someone with 29 saves and make him a setup man.

Yeah, there's a good chance that Jim Johnson gets the save opps if Sherrill is dealt. He's been pretty great this year. :-D

I think Johnson would get first crack at it. And I also think Sherrill would close for St Louis. They want a lefty in the pen, but I think Sherrill is much better than Franklin, and Izzy looks like toast to me.

Ryan Franklin has done a good job but if they get Sherrill he should be the closer

The Brewers are also interested in Sherrill. It's possible he would close on either team.

I don't see how Sherrill would end up closing in either team, but I certainly wish to god it happens! Picked him up as an afterthought in many leagues and it has paid huge dividends!
